Abstinence

Drug addiction is much harder to heal from than people realise.

The statement 'prevention is better than cure' really does apply!

Long term treatment is needed to achieve healing from addiction.

Studies suggest a need to shift the treatment of substance abuse from an acute care model to a chronic disease management paradigm. There is a need for more aggressive screening, early intervention, and sustained addiction management over time. Findings support the importance of integrating drug use screening and monitoring into routine healthcare practices, given its strong association with mortality risk.

Motivation is considered a crucial factor in the success of drug addiction treatment, as it influences behavioural change. Abstinence motivation is critical in preventing relapse. By focusing on improving self-concept and coping strategies, treatment programs can be more effective in preventing relapse and promoting long-term recovery.

More intense and sustained treatment has higher chances of achieving sustained abstinence.

We stand by the statement - PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!
